About the Role

The Emergency Medical Technician plays a vital role in responding to
emergency and non-emergency situations, assisting patients in various healthcare environments. You will support the safe transport, treatment, and
handover of patients, maintaining the highest standards of care and professionalism.

You will also act as the senior team member when working alongside a crewmate, providing
clinical leadership and taking responsibility for your own clinical assessments, decisions and interventions within their authorised scope of practice . This role requires a proactive approach to patient care, ensuring effective communication, rapid response and adherence to clinical best
practice.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

● Assess and manage patients in emergency, urgent and non-emergency settings within your
authorised scope of practice.
● Transport, assess, manage and escalate patient care in line with CMC policies and
procedures.
● Act as the senior team member when working with an Emergency Care Assistant,
overseeing patient care and clinical decisions.
● Drive emergency and non-emergency vehicles safely and legally, following CMC driving
policies and maintaining patient comfort and vehicle condition.
● Maintain accurate records of patient care, vehicle condition and equipment use, submitting
reports as required.
● Deliver care and treatment within your competence and in line with current best-practice
guidance, including IHCD and JRCALC.
● Deliver authorised treatment and administer medicines in accordance with CMC
procedures and applicable legal arrangements.
● Obtain and relay relevant patient information while maintaining confidentiality.
● Recognise and report safeguarding concerns, social-care issues and environmental risks.
● Follow infection prevention and control measures, maintaining clean vehicles, equipment
and medical supplies.
● Complete pre-shift and in-shift vehicle and equipment checks to ensure operational
readiness.
● Maintain mandatory training, competencies and continuing professional development.
● Undertake additional duties within the scope of your qualifications and responsibilities.

No guaranteed minimum hours. Shifts are offered according to
operational requirements, and team members are not obliged to accept
every shift offered.

Requirements

Essential:


  • Valid First Response Emergency Care (FREC) Level 4 qualification.

  • Minimum 6 months of frontline experience post-qualification.

  • Full UK manual driving licence with no driving disqualification within the last 5 years and no more than 6 current penalty points.

  • Must be at least 21 years of age and have a minimum of 12 months’ driving experience since obtaining a full UK driving licence.

  • Valid Level 3 CERAD qualification.

  • Physically fit and capable of manual handling duties.

  • Strong interpersonal skills, able to communicate effectively with patients, colleagues, and healthcare professionals.

  • Ability to prioritise tasks, manage workloads effectively, and remain calm in high-pressure situations.

  • Demonstrated ability to work both independently and as part of a

  • team.

  • Ability to complete relevant paperwork to the clinical standard

  • Commitment to delivering high-quality patient care and ensuring positive patient experiences.

  • Willingness to learn, adapt, and undertake further training as required.


Desirable:


  • Driving license category C1.

  • Valid Level 3 CERAD qualification.

  • FREUC5

  • Additional training or certification in safeguarding, mental health first aid, or advanced life support.

  • Previous ambulance care experience in event or frontline emergency settings.

  • Identity and right-to-work checks.

  • An Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check.

  • Verification of qualifications and professional registration.

  • Satisfactory professional references and review of relevant employment history.

  • Driving-licence and driving-history checks where driving forms part of the role.

  • Occupational-health clearance appropriate to the inherent requirements of the position.

  • Evidence of current competence and continuing professional development.

  • Disclosure and review of any relevant professional restrictions, investigations or fitness-to-practise matters.

We are supported by strong clinical governance and place a major focus on developing our team. First Aiders join at our internal Level 1 and can progress through Levels 2 and 3 as they gain experience, complete training and demonstrate operational competence.
